» 6 Tips for Storing Spring and Summer Wardrobe

You can smell it in the air.  Sweater weather is right around the corner.  It’s time to put all tank tops, flip flops and bikinis into storage, perhaps with the other items you’ve packed in a portable storage container.  “Simplify Your Home” has these tips to keep in mind as you pack your summer things away and bring on the winter fun.

How to Store Spring and Summer Clothes

Tip #1

All items that were not worn during the season must be thrown out or donated.  See our “Where to Donate Items” blog post.  These items are better used by someone else than taking up your valuable storage space.

Tip #2

Wash all items before storing.  You may find some items with stains that are permanent and need to be thrown away or stains that would otherwise attract insects in storage.

Tip #3

Launder fabric storage bags and clean and line the plastic containers you are storing your items in.

Tip #4

Clean and vacuum your cleaned out closet of all dust and insects before moving winter clothing in.

Tip #5

Clothes should not be stored in areas that may be exposed to extreme temperatures or moisture such as garages, attics or basements.
